Jerome "Jerry" T. Loftus

78, of Scituate, RI, passed away peacefully at RI Hospital, Sunday June 12, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Bourbeau) Loftus of Foster.

Jerry was born in 1943, during WW2, in Brisbane, Australia to the late, Violet (Colville) Loftus and Thomas Loftus. After the war, as a toddler, they moved from Australia to Flushing, NY. Upon graduating high school and his love for the ocean, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1960, he was so proud to serve his country & was there during the Cold War & Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962.

While he was stationed in Newport, he went to a dance at the YMCA where he met his beautiful wife & love of his life, their love continued and they had just celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on April 30,2022.

Besides his wife Patricia, he is survived by their children, Rachael D. (Loftus) Gifford of Killingly, Ct, Brian J. Loftus & his partner David Fravala of West Warwick, RI & Kerri Jill (Loftus) Eaton & her husband Bernard Eaton of Coventry, RI, a brother Lawrence Menzel of Queensland, Australia and his dog Snoopy. Jerry also leaves behind his grandchildren, Robert Gifford, Emma Gifford & his buddy Ethan Gifford.

Jerry was a truck driver for Corp Bros & a machinist for Browne & Sharpe before retiring. He loved his family as much as they loved him & loved family get togethers, holidays, cookouts, any reason was a good reason to see family and friends. The joy he had for the ocean was endless, he also enjoyed fishing and being outside tinkering or planting gardens.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Tuesday, June 21st at 11 a.m. in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick. Burial with military honors will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, Coventry. Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston.
