JENNIE (DE FAZIO) MELLO

85, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel C. Mello and the late William "Willy" Cardarelli. Born in Johnston, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria (Macera) DeFazio. Jennie enjoyed growing vegetables and flowers. She lived for her grandchildren,

Jennie was the loving mother of Janet A. Recchia and her husband Robert Sr. of Cranston, Susan R. Passarella and her husband Frank of North Kingstown, Samuel W. Cardarelli of New York, and Olindo W. Cardarelli of Johnston. She was the cherished grandmother of Robert Recchia, Jr., Patricia D'Agnillo, Samuel Cardarelli, Jr., Jennifer and Domenic Passarella and the great-grandmother of Briana, Samantha, Dalton, and Trinity Recchia, Samuel the III, and Demitria Cardarelli.. Jennie was the devoted sister of Louise Pisaturo of Warwick, Ella Raymond of Cranston, and Alfred DeFazio of Johnston, and the late Angelina Cardarelli, Margaret Parrillo, Mary Tyburski, Michael DeFazio, Antonio DeFazio Jr., and Pasco DeFazio.

She was a loving wife and mother, but grandchildren and great-grandchildren stole her heart. She would spend time just observing the little ones with a smile on her face. She was very proud of her family, as they were of her.

Jennie's wishes were for her funeral to be private at the convenience of her family. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hasbro Children's Hospital, C/O Rhode Island Hospital Foundation, Box H, Annex Station, Providence, RI 02901-9979.
