Jeanne S. Stappas

Jeanne Stephanie Stappas, 72, of Cranston, RI passed away on March 23rd at Rhode Island Hospital.  She was the daughter of the late Catherine (Georgeon) Stappas and the late John A. Stappas.  Born in Providence, she was a lifetime resident of Rhode Island.   A graduate of Central High School, she went on to start what would be her lifelong career at Rhode Island Hospital serving in various administration positions until her recent retirement two years ago.

Jeanne was a loyal, dedicated, and hardworking employee and rarely, if ever, missed a day of work.  She was as loyal to her work family as she was her work and valued those friendships.   Some of her favorite things to do were watching movies, reading, and collecting jewelry.  Every year she took great pride in volunteering in her community’s Gaspee Days events helping to contribute to their great success.  She loved a good laugh and the sillier the joke the better.   When she wasn’t laughing, reading, or watching movies she was attending to her one or more pet cats, having provided a home to many over the course of her life.

She is survived by her brother Dennis J. Stappas and his wife Suzanne of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, her sister Stevra A. Soucy and her husband Jim of West Greenwich, RI, her niece Catherine Stappas (husband Russell Jorgensen) of Wisconsin, four nephews, John Stappas (wife Jessica) of Wisconsin, Nicholas Soucy, Christian Soucy, Collin Soucy, all of West Greenwich, one great niece, Evyenia Stappas, also of Wisconsin, one aunt, Helen Georgeon, of South Kingstown, and many cousins and friends.  Of particular mention among her friends are Joan and Joseph Cerullo and Uncle Sonny with whom she had a special bond.

Her Funeral Service to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held on Wednesday, March 31st at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Annunciation Demetrakas Hall in the Rev. Peter Mihailides Center, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston (social distancing and masks required). Burial at North Burial Ground Cemetery in Providence will be private.
