JEAN P. "JOHN" ARCAND

77, of Johnston, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the beloved husband of Diana A. (Marcoccio) Arcand. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Lussier) Arcand. John was a Johnston Firefighter for twenty-three years and served as Battalion Chief before his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion, Smithfield Lodge of Elks #2359, and the VFW Post #2686 Johnston. He served the VFW as a State Commander. John was a US Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.

Besides his wife he is survived by his loving sons, Joseph J. Arcand and his wife Robin of Killingly, CT., Stephen J. Arcand of Johnston, John L. Arcand and his wife Kimberly of Smithfield. John was the cherished grandfather of Jackson and Clara. He was the brother of Paul E. Arcand of Johnston and the late Jeanne Phillips, Joseph, Raymond, and Edmond Arcand.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Sunday 2-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association of RI, 260 West Exchange Street, Suite 1023, Providence, RI 02903.
