James E. Howarth

66, of Quincy, MA, formerly of Cranston passed away suddenly on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at Boston Medical Center, Boston, MA. He was the beloved husband of Catherine M. (Burgess) Howarth. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James E. and Barbara (Tucker) Howarth. Jim was the Director of Field Operations for twenty-six years with Commonwealth Building Inc. He was a US Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam. Jim was a graduate of Cranston West High School, Class of 1967. He was a volunteer for Foundation Fighting Blindness. Jim was an avid cigar and fine bourbon connoisseur. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and working crossword puzzles. Jim was an Eagle Scout.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving son Zachary J. Howarth of Warwick, and his step-children Melissa J. Phillips and her husband Tim of Cranston, Thomas R. DiBiase and his wife Danielle of Plainville, MA, and Dawn C. Hanley and her husband Sean of Cranston. He was the cherished grandfather of Britney, Andrew, Tessa, Mia, and Madelyn. He was the brother of David Howarth of Cranston and the late Bonnie Macera and is survived by his brother-in-law Thomas Macera of Cranston. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. David’s on the Hill Episcopal Church, 200 Meshanticut Valley Parkway, Cranston. Burial will be private. VISITING HOURS Sunday 4-7 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston.
