James M. Hicks

74, of Cranston passed away peacefully on May 20, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.   He was the beloved husband of Mary-Kay (Manly) Hicks for fifty years.

Born in Bronx, NY he was a son of the late Thomas J. and Lorraine A. (O’Neill) Hicks.

He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in Bronx, NY and attended Fordham University.  He received a bachelor’s degree in marketing management from Western Connecticut State University.

Jim worked for Grossman Marketing Group for many years before retiring; he later worked for Inskip.

He was a member of the East Greenwich Firemen’s Club and enjoyed working out at Healthtrax.  He was an avid fan of the NY Rangers, NY Jets and the NY Mets.  He enjoyed gardening and loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren play sports.  

Besides his wife he leaves his two daughters, Erin L. Manwaring and her husband David of Cranston and Keri A. Hannouch and her husband Scott of Cranston; two brothers, Thomas J. Hicks, Jr. and his wife Rae of Garnerville, NY and Gerard J. Hicks and his husband Willy of Cranston; his five cherished grandchildren, Rian, Irelynn and Quinn Manwaring, Raegan and Kensington Hannouch; two grand dogs, Maverick and Jersey; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on May 29, 2024 at 10am in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Drive, Cranston.  Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  VISITING HOURS Tuesday from 4-7pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Ursula Matulonis, MD, Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, C/O Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave. Suite Y 1420, Boston, MA, 02215, in memory of Barbara D. Morrocco.
