81, of Circuit Drive, Cranston, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2011, at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Helen T. (Martin) Grimshaw. They had been married for 59 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Gormley) Grimshaw.
Mr. Grimshaw was a substation foreman for Narragansett Electric retiring in 1992. He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War and served in the Rhode Island Air National Guard. For thirty years he was an official for the Rhode Island Football Officials' Association. He was a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Cranston Council #1738 and was a communicant of St. Paul Church, Cranston.
Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of James E. Grimshaw, Jr. and Kathleen A. Bouchard of Cranston, Mary E. Grossi of Mattapoisett, MA, Helen P. Andrade of Warwick, John J. Grimshaw of Cranston, Barbara J. Paquin of Warwick, Paul F. Grimshaw of Davenport, FL, Joseph D. Grimshaw of Warwick and Thomas P. Grimshaw of Attleboro, MA. He is, also, survived by nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Patricia M. Grossi and the great grandfather of the late James D. Demers, Jr. Mr. Grimshaw was, also, the father-in-law of the late Ernest E. Paquin.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Paul Church, 1 St. Paul Place, Cranston at 10 a.m. Committal Prayers with Military Honors will take place at Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting Hours: Friday, 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions to Our Lady of Providence Seminary, 485 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI 02908 would be appreciated.
