83, of Carpenter Street, Providence, died on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at home. He was the husband of Alice (Carosi) Chamberlain. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late George W. and Lillian M. (Houghton) Chamberlain. Mr. Chamberlain was employed for the City of Providence, Department of Parks and Recreation for over 25 years. He was a Navy veteran of WW-2 and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Mr. Chamberlain was combat wounded and received the Purple Heart and numerous Medals of Valor. Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter Sandra Hogate, five sons, Bobby, Kevin, Kenny, George and Irving Jr., grandchildren: Kimberly Pike and Eddy Brown, and thirteen other grandchildren and three great grandchildren: John Palmer, Brandon and Taylor Brown, two sisters: Joan Cabral and Lillian Carvello, three brothers: George, Robert and Norman Chamberlain. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00am in St. Matthew's Church, Elmwood Avenue Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Monday 2-4, 7-9pm at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Avenue Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will be in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
