94, of Cranston, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at RI Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph H. Redman. Irma was born in Natick, RI a daughter of the late Fiorangelo and Enrichetta (Zarlenga) Pontarelli. Mrs. Redman was a secretary and bookkeeper for the Cranston Center RI/ ARC. Irma was a graduate of Commercial High School, Class of 1933. She was also an exceptional pianist; playing professionally, and for many community events. She was a former church organist at St. Ann's Church, Cranston. Irma also gave piano lessons for 55 years. As a young woman she was a member of the Chaminade Club and Chopin Club, and a former troop leader, chairwoman, and member of the Board of Directors of the Girls Scouts of Rhode Island. Irma was a former officer of Gladstone Street School PTA, and Cranston Chapter AARP. She is survived by her loving children, Barbara R. Carroll of Cranston, and Joseph H. Redman, III and his wife Nancy of Corinna, Maine. She was also the cherished grandmother of Heidi, Timothy, Jesse, Kris and great grandmother of five. Irma was the sister of Adelaide Marseglia of Cranston, and Arthur Pontarelli of West Warwick, and the late Vincent, Nicholas, and Raymond Pontarelli. Her funeral will be held on Monday at 9:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, 1493 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
