IRENE G. (ARCHETTO) WOLANSKI, 95, of West Warwick passed away peacefully at the Brentwood Nursing Home on Tuesday, October 31, 2023. Born in Cranston, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (D’Amore) Archetto. Irene spent most of her life there before moving to Coventry and then West Warwick.
Irene graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and then received a Master’s degree in Special Education from Rhode Island College. She was a well-known elementary school teacher in the Cranston and Warwick school systems. She was also known as the infamous “Miss Irene” in the local Providence version of the Romper Room television series. Irene was also an avid antiques dealer and started an antiques and resale clothing store in Warwick called Repeat Performance. Then she acquired the Hudson Fur Salon business in Providence in the 1980’s and ran the business for more than 30 years. She was known throughout the state as “RI’s Premier Lady Furrier”.
Irene was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Joseph Wolanski. She was a loving and caring mother who is survived by her 3 children; daughter Pamela and son-in-law Larry Baker of Lake Worth, FL; son John Wolanski and daughter-in-law Lori of Naples, FL and daughter and Caregiver Wendy Wolanski of West Warwick. She also leaves behind 3 grandchildren; Lisa, Joseph, and Gianna; her great-grandson, Theo; her sister Nancy Adamo and her husband Kenneth of North Providence and was the sister of the late John D. Archetto.
VISITING HOURS are Saturday morning, November 4th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by burial at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
