Irene R. (Sabella) L'Abbe

102, of Johnston, passed away on Thursday, December 16th.  She was the wife of the late Rudolph L’Abbe, and a daughter of Antonio Sr. and Rosina (Cicchetti) Sabella.

Irene was a graduate of the former Felt & Tarrant Business School in Downtown Providence.  She worked as a Comptometer Operator & Clerk for H.P. Hood & Sons.  Irene also did Comptometer services for various companies for income tax preparation. In later years, she worked as a jewelry inspector for Swarovski.

Both she and her late husband enjoyed a great deal of traveling.  Above all, she loved playing Bingo.

She is survived by her nephew and primary caregiver, Anthony Miele of Cranston, and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Irene was the last surviving member of nine children: The late Celestina Giorgio, Jennie Miele, Rose Sanzi, Elisa D’Ambra, Marie Sabitoni, Felix Sabella, Antonio Sabella, Jr., and Albert Sabella.

Her funeral will be held from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.  VISITING HOURS are on Tuesday from 4:00-6:30 p.m. MASKS ARE REQUIRED.
