92, of Westcott Road, North Scituate, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late George F. Banspach. Born in Providence; she was a daughter of the late John and Gertrude (Campbell) McDonald. Mrs. Banspach was an office worker for the former General Electric Base Works, Providence and was also a cashier at the former Strand Theatre in Providence for many years until her retirement. Irene was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed Wheel of Fortune, puzzles and reading. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving children, Robert H. Banspach and his wife Lorraine of Feeding Hills, MA, Maureen Banspach of North Scituate, Joan Altomari and her husband Sal of Greenville and Donna Cahill of Bourne, MA. Mrs. Banspach was the mother of the late John B. Banspach. She was the cherished grandmother of eight and the great-grandmother of seven. Irene was the dear sister of Ruth Fitzgerald of West Warwick. She is also survived by her dog Morgan. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Danielson Pike, North Scituate. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston.
