Ilene M. (Norato) DiMaio

90, of Cranston, passed away at the home of her daughter Mary Ellen on Monday September 23rd, surrounded by her loving family. She was married to the love of her life and best friend Leo F. DiMaio Jr. for 58 years, the former Director of the Talent Development Program at the University of Rhode Island.

She leaves her son Leo F. DiMaio III, and his wife Jamie and their three children who she adored, Stephanie, Angelica, and Leo Angelo, in addition, she leaves behind her loving daughter and caretaker Mary Ellen DiMaio.

She was the daughter of the late Albert Norato and Prudenza (Russo) Norato.

She was sister to the late Alfonso Norato, Concetta (Connie) Ronci, Evelyn DeRouin, Verna Cardente and Albert (Sonny) Norato. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who she was known to as their special Auntie Ilene. Ilene also has many beloved friends who will miss her. Ilene lived the life of her dreams. She was kind and gentle, always giving. She could always light up a room and always made you feel special, her outgoing personality will be remembered for a very long time. Faith her core, family her heart and shopping her fun. Having monthly lunches with her former Mount Pleasant High School classmates was just one of her favorite enjoyments. She was also known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills, and her holiday gatherings will always be remembered by all who attended.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Friday September 27th at 10 am in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippen Orchard Rd. Cranston, followed by burial in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.

Visiting hours are Thursday September 26th from 3 pm to 7 pm. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave. Cranston.
