Ilene H. Companatico Schulenberger

55, of Cranston, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025, surrounded by family after her second battle with cancer. Ilene was born in South Korea on May 25, 1969, and adopted by her late mother, Sylvia Weber in 1977. She is survived by her daughters, Samantha and Genna Companatico, former husband Ray Schulenberger, sister Susan Tashian, nephews Zachary and Jack Tashian and her soul dog Zoey. She was a loving mother, daughter, auntie, grandma, cousin, teacher, and friend to many.

After earning her cosmetology license, Ilene channeled her passion for hairdressing into a fulfilling career in teaching for over 20 years and worked at Paul Mitchell The School Rhode Island for the past 5 years.

Known for her infectious sense of humor and unique ability to connect with students, Ilene was not only a master of the craft but also a source of joy and laughter in the classroom. She had a special talent for giving students playful nicknames, often bringing a smile to their faces and creating an atmosphere where learning felt like a family affair. With her boundless enthusiasm and personal touch, Ilene inspired many to pursue their dreams in hairdressing while reminding them that education could be both fun and fulfilling.

She leaves behind a legacy of creativity, laughter, and countless students who will remember her warmth and encouragement for years to come. Ilene’s larger-than-life personality was impossible to miss. Loud, passionate, and always full of laughter, she had a way of lighting up any room she entered. A die-hard Patriots fan through and through, her energy and enthusiasm for both her team and life were contagious. Whether she was cheering on the Pats or being the loudest one in the stands at her daughter’s sports games, Ilene's vibrant spirit and sense of humor left an indelible mark on everyone lucky enough to know her.

Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Sunday, January 12th from 5 to 7 p.m. at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. Inurnment will be private.
