IDA (DETORO) PENNINE

90, of Johnston, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at home. She was the beloved wife of the late Anthony Pennine, Sr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Sabatino and Catherine (Martino) Detoro. Ida was an executive administrative assistant working at both US Naval Station, Newport and US Naval Air Station, Quonset Point. She earned her associate degree from RI College at age 68. Ida was a communicant of Holy Cross Church since 1957. She was the matriarch of her family and will be forever missed.

She is survived by her loving children, Anthony Pennine, Jr. and his wife Maureen of New York City, and Kathleen M. Giolitti of Johnston. Ida was the cherished grandmother of Anthony and Stephen Pennine, James, Gregory, and Sean Golden, and the late Lucrezia Pennine. She was the great-grandmother of Laura, James, Stephen, Allison, Samantha, Nicholas, Mark, Ian, Colin, Katie, Abigail, and Jordyn. She was the sister of Margaret Cucca of Providence, Rose Cataldo of Naples, FL and the late Lena Palazzo, Frederick and Arthur Detoro.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, 645 Hartford Avenue, Providence. And may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Tuesday 3-8 p.m. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
