88, of Cranston, died Monday, November 2, 2009 at Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence. He was the husband of the late Magdaleni "Lily" Alexandridis. Born in Huddersfield, England he was the son of the late Herbert Kinsley and Matilda (Halvessen) Ward-Smith. Mr. Ward-Smith was the Chief of Procurement for the United Nations Development Program for thirty-five years before retiring in 1993. He was a veteran of the British Royal Navy. He is survived by his sons, Paul H.G. Ward-Smith and his wife Lynne of Scituate, Stephan K. Ward-Smith and his wife Caroline of Cranston, and Anthony Ward-Smith and his wife Frances of Greenville. Herbert was the grandfather of Leah Houston, Anthony, David, Stephanie, Nicholas, Kinsley, and Lauren Ward-Smith. He was the brother of the late Pamela and Thelma. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his VISITING HOURS on Thursday 4-7 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. His funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening in the funeral home. Burial will be on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in Greenwood Union Cemetery, Rye, New York.
