HELEN (BEDROSIAN) PAGE, 79, of Massachusetts Ave., Providence, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2009 at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence. She was the beloved wife for 60 years of John F. Page. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Alice (Kabarian) Bedrosian.
Helen was a graduate of Central High School class of 1946 and worked at Allendale Insurance Company for a short period. She was a Sunday school teacher at the Cathedral of St. John in Providence while her children were growing up, and later became a communicant of The Church of the Transfiguration in Cranston. In the 1960's she got involved in square and round dancing and became a member of the Friendly Mixers Square Dancing Club. She promoted the square dance movement for over 40 years. She was the first woman president of the Friendly Mixers and served on Halls Committee at four New England conventions held in RI. She was awarded the prestigious "Yankee Clipper" award in 1988 and was placed into the "Square Dance Hall of Fame" in 2001 sponsored by the Square Dance Foundation of New England. Helen also arranged square dance demos at nursing homes. Besides her husband, she was the devoted mother of Judy McDermott and her husband Stephen and John R. Page; dear sister of Margaret Diggle and her husband Harry and Jasper Bedrosian and his wife Rita; loving grandmother of Kathy Ragno and her husband Mark and Scott McDermott and his wife Cindy; and loving great-grandmother of Jeanine, Kate, Leah, Ryan and the late Alexis. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Monday at 9:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service in The Church of the Transfiguration, 1665 Broad St., Cranston at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence. VISITING HOURS SUNDAY 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Square Dance Foundation of N.E., 105 Oak Hill Ave., Manchester, NH 03104-4457.
