HELEN C. OUELLETTE, 75, of Cranston, RI, passed away Friday, January 30, 2009 at Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI. Born in Fall River, MA, she was the beloved daughter of the late Roland and Alexina (Couturier) Ouellette.
Helen was a Senior Community Program Liaison for the State of RI Department of Elderly Affairs, before retiring in 1997. She was a founder of Senior Companions, and was an early advocate for a smoke free workplace. In 1998, she was a proud homeowner. Music filled her life; she played the piano, xylophone and recorder.
As a graduate of Dominican Academy in Fall River, she entered the Novitiate, Presentation of Mary in Hudson, NH, and was a nun for 25 years serving 7A½ years in the Philippines. (Soeur Marie Luc) She later received her Doctorate in Theology from Andover-Newton Theological School.
She was the dear sister of Therese R. Galligan, the late Anne-Marie Medeiros and her husband Leoniel, Fred R. Ouellette and his wife Cindy and Vivianne J. Curran; and loving aunt of Kevin F. Galligan, Vince Ollivier, Mike Garwood and his late wife, Diane, John Ouellette, Michelle O'Brien, Marc R., Fred E. and Matthew K. Curran.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, March 7th at 11:00 a.m. in St. Matthew's Church, corner of Elmwood Ave. and Park Ave., Cranston, RI.
