Helen Dayian

Helen passed away peacefully of natural causes at Saint Elizabeth Home-East Greenwich, RI on Friday, April 16, 2021. A lifelong Providence resident, Helen was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Melkonian) Dayian, and sister of the late Dr. Edward A. Dayian and the late Rose Balemian and brother-in-law Kenneth Balemian. Helen is survived by her nephews Barrie Balemian and Bruce (Georgina) Balemian, her niece Bethanie (Keith) Tracy, her great nephew Barrie Balemian II and great nieces Brittnie Balemian and Marie Rose Balemian.  Helen is also survived by her dear cousin, Margaret Stepanian and dear friends Sylvia Simonian and Agnes Bianco who were all her dinner and a movie pals until her illness in 2017.

Helen was a proud member of the Sts. Vartanantz Armenian church community, sang in the church choir and was a member of the Armenian Chorale of RI. During her time at St. Elizabeth Home, prior to the pandemic, Helen sang with the resident chorus, was the secretary of the resident council, enjoyed music and trivia activities and attended religious services at the Home. Helen had a deep faith in God and her kind and gentle presence was felt by all who knew her there.

The family would like to thank Helen’s Saint Elizabeth Family of dedicated caregivers and activities staff on the Bay for taking such great care of her, the team of Hope Health & Hospice for being by her side through her final journal in life, and Father Kapriel Nazarian for his many visits and spiritual support.

Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 20th at 11 a.m. at Sts. Vartanantz Church, Providence, (social distancing and masks required).  Burial will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
