92, of Cranston, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of 67 years to Alice (Joseph) St. John. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Harold Sr. and Mary (Gallagher) St. John. Harold was a boiler operator for many years until his retirement in 1991.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. He was an avid Red Sox fan. He loved gardening, walking to local baseball games and was a former secular Franciscan. He volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry for about ten years until the onset of his Alzheimer’s began . And, although he had this disease he enjoyed watching The Mass on TV --was able to recite and bless himself. He will be remembered for being a kind giving man, until the end his sense of humor was a gift just like him.
Besides his loving wife he is survived by his loving children: Richard J. St. John of Cranston, Harold F. St. John , III (Rose) of Foster, Ann Marie P. Carbone (Robert) of Hope , Alice M. Potter (William) of Foster and Elizabeth A. Cavallaro (Francesco) of Cranston; Papa to his cherished grandchildren : Harold, Michael, and Joseph St. John, Dionna Mansolillo (Matthew) , Danielle Carbone, Robert Carbone (Taylor) and Domenic Carbone, Ashley and William Potter; and his great grandchildren: Kyrie Lynn, Michael Jr. and Trey. He was also the dear brother of the late : Richard, James , Edward and Robert St. John and MaryAnn Gaspar.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 17th at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Church, Cranston followed by burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
