85, of Charlestown, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at South County Hospital, South Kingstown. He was born in Providence, a son of the late Michael Archangelo and Ernestina (Di Mambro) Mattia. Mr. Mattia was a Liaison for the Providence Gas Company until his retirement. Guido graduated from the Julius Chaloff School of Music in Boston, MA, with advanced composition studies in Chicago. He played cocktail piano in Chicago, Reno, and Rhode Island and taught piano, theory and harmonic analysis. When Guido returned to Rhode Island he played piano at the Biltmore Hotel. He also was a WW II Army veteran where he served as a radio operator. He was the brother of the late John Mattia, and his late wife, Filomena (Catuto) Mattia, Joseph Mattia and his late wife, Filomena (Costello) Mattia, and his late sister, Emma (Mattia) Lombari, and her late husband, Peter Lombari. His funeral will be held on Friday at 9 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary's Church, Cranston St., Cranston. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS: Friday 8-9 am.
