GRIGOR GEVORKIAN
GRIGOR GEVORKIAN, 84, of Rounds Ave., Providence, passed away Friday, April 25, 2008 at RI Hospital in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Taguhi (Gevorkian) Gevorkian.
Born in Damascus, Syria, a son of the late Hagop and Elizabeth Gevorkian, he moved to Yerevan, Armenia in 1946, before coming to the U.S. in 1977.
Mr. Gevorkian was a tailor and owner of Mario's Downtown for 22 years, retiring in 2002. When residing in Armenia, he was the personal tailor to His Holiness Vasken I, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians. He was a member of Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church of Providence, its Cultural Committee, and Senior Citizens Group.
Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Hovaness "John" Gevorkian of Sun Valley, CA, Alice Arslanian and Angela Kozinian, both of Cranston, and Makruhi Gevorkian of North Providence; loving grandfather of six; loving great-grandfather of two; and dear brother of the late Gevork Gevorkian and Vartouhi Zeytoonian.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Sts. Sahag and Mesrob Church, Providence, and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Tuesday 6-8 p.m.
Burial will be in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Church, 70 Jefferson St., Providence, RI 02908.
