Gregg A. Madsen

59, of Cranston, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after a courageous battle with a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Lisa M. (Petrone) Madsen, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.

Born in Providence, Gregg was the beloved son of Meredith Haas of Belchertown, MA. He met Lisa, the love of his life, when they were competitors in the same industry—his boundless enthusiasm and infectious charm made him impossible to resist. Their love story was one of friendship, laughter, and deep admiration. Gregg was a proud father to Callie Madsen and Nicholas Madsen, who were his greatest joys. He is also survived by his dear siblings, Marjorie Madsen of Park City, UT, Timothy Madsen of Womelsdorf, PA, and Rachel Madsen of Ithaca, NY, as well as cherished nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.

A graduate of Belchertown High School (MA), Gregg was a gifted three-sport athlete and was active in the Hope United Methodist Church youth fellowship at a regional and state level. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to own and operate several businesses, a testament to his drive and determination. However, his greatest passion was softball—where he made an indelible mark as a player, captain, coach, and sponsor. Known as "Mad Dog" within the Rhode Island softball community, he was honored with induction into the Rhode Island Softball Hall of Fame, a reflection of his dedication to the sport and the friendships he built along the way.

Beyond the softball field, Gregg loved to travel, play cards, and immerse himself in country music. A loyal Patriots and Red Sox fan, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his teams. Above all, he took immense pride in his family, always radiating a spirit of joy and generosity that touched everyone around him.

Gregg’s zest for life, unwavering kindness, and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known him.
