Gloria (Roupenian) Messerlian

92 of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Souren and Theresa (Garabedian) Roupenian and the wife of the late Robert Baxter Messerlian to whom she was married for 62 years. 

She was an active member of the Armenian Evangelical Church of Cranston; the Bible study at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church; and a founding member of Hope Church, formerly Cranston Christian Fellowship. 

Gloria was a woman of strong faith and led her life guided by our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Together with her husband they founded Baxter’s Jewelry in 1960. Through their business they fostered meaningful connections throughout their community. 

Gloria leaves behind her daughter, Lisa Abbott, and husband Stephen Abbott, and son, Paul Messerlian and wife Dr. Geralyn Messerlian. She is survived by her cherished grandchildren, Ariana and David Abbott, and Janina and Nicole Messerlian. She will also be dearly remembered by the Armenian community, members of the jewelry industry, her friends at Panera and Twin Oaks. 

Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be held on Wednesday, February 5th from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Armenian Evangelical Church, 180 Oaklawn Ave., Cranston, with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m., followed by burial at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
