Giovanni Petrocelli, MD 92, of Greening Lane, Cranston, died on Sunday, March 1, 2009 at RI Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Ilda (Sbarbati) Petrocelli. Born in Acquaviva d'Isernia, Italy, a son of the late Angelo and Cristina (Romano) Petrocelli, he settled into Rhode Island 56 years ago. Dr. Petrocelli practiced medicine for 25 years from his office on Plainfield Street, Providence. He was affiliated with Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence and St. Joseph's Hospital, Providence. Dr. Petrocelli was a member of the American Medical Association and the RI Medical Society. He had been a communicant of St. Bartholomew's Church for the past 56 years. He is survived by two daughters, Maria Cristina Borges of Cranston, Joanne Brown of North Providence, four sons, Angelo Petrocelli of Plainfield, CT, Frank Petrocelli of Warwick, John Petrocelli of Cranston and William Petrocelli of Douglas, MA., three sisters, Elsa Petrocelli of North Providence, Dina Ciummo of Coventry Etta Pagliarini of Coventry and the late Mario Petrocelli.
