Giovanni Cortellessa, Jr.

86, of Warwick, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Kent Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of the late Melvina E. (Vallesi) Cortellessa. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Assunta (D’Arezzo) Cortellessa. Giovanni was the owner of Cortellessa Texaco Service Station in Providence for thirty-two years before retiring in 1994. After his retirement he was employed by Wal-Mart as a greeter before retiring in 2014.  Giovanni was a member of the Providence Gridiron Club and the Rosario Society.

He is survived by his loving children, Joann Pfeiler of Warwick and John Cortellessa of Providence and the late Arturo and Michael E. Cortellessa. He was the cherished grandfather of Alicia, Jason, Katelin and the late Jessica Cortellessa. Giovanni was the brother of Michelina LaFazia of Atlanta, GA, Delfina Tridente of Cranston, Viola Pizzi of Cranston, Pasquale Cortellessa, and the late Angela Scungio, Maria DiGuiseppe, and Helena Prefetto.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Visit NardolilloFH.com for complete obituary and online condolences.
