Gerald M. “Jerry” Tillinghast , Sr.
75, passed away peacefully , surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, February 21, 2022 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was born in Providence, a son of the late John CB Tillinghast and Helen E. (Matland) Tillinghast.
Jerry, a boy from a working family in South Providence became a lance corporal in the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War before returning home and eventually becoming a multi-faceted entrepreneur. First and foremost Jerry loved his family. He was an avid New England sports fan. He loved music, dancing, and going to the movies. He was always the life of a party. He loved life never took a day for granted and always lived each day to the fullest.
He is survived by his loving children: Gerald Tillinghast, Jr and his wife Tanya of Warwick, Kristian Tillinghast Contreras and her husband Carlos of North Providence, Jarrod Tillinghast of North Providence, Vanesa Contreras and her husband Pedro of West Warwick and Jonathan Tillinghast of Warwick, his dear siblings: Helen Pirri and her husband Philip of Cranston and Joanne Moitoza and her husband John of Cranston. He was the grandfather of 18, great grandfather of 5 and Uncle of several nieces and nephews. Jerry was the brother of the late John, William, Harold, John “Junie” Tillinghast and Robert Tillinghast.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Saturday evening from 5- 9 pm in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Ave., Cranston . His funeral services will be private.
