GERALD J. GRIFFIN, 55, of Oakwoods Dr., Wakefield, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009 at South County Hospital in Wakefield. He was the beloved husband for 31 years of Anne B. (Bomely) Griffin. Born in New London, CT, he was the devoted son of Gerald and Joan (Barnes) Griffin of Groton, CT.
Gerald was a graduate of St. Bernard Boys School Class of 1971, Eastern Connecticut State College and received Master Degrees from Southern Connecticut State College and Roger Williams University. He was a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserves. He worked for the State of CT Adult Probation from 1982-1984; he worked for the U.S. Government Naval Investigative Services; he joined the Philadelphia Division of the D.E.A. from 1984-1997 and transferred to RI as Assistant ASAC retiring in 2003. After retiring, he was co-owner of Griffin Private Investigations. In December 2008, he joined Homeland Security as a Special Investigator for Customs and Border Patrol.
Besides his wife and parents, Gerald was the loving father of Meagan A. Griffin of Wakefield and Courtney J. Griffin, of South Boston, MA and dear brother of Donna Collins of Hampton Beach, VA, Kathleen Brennan of Quaker Hill, CT, Paul Griffin and Colleen Bowdy, both of Mystic, CT, Sean Griffin of Westerly, RI, Joan Griffin of Bremerton, WA and Ann Crooks of Groton, CT.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 114 High St., Wakefield, and may call at the Nardolillo Funeral Home - SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Rd. (RT 1-A) Narragansett on Monday 4-7 p.m.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Wakefield.
