The Supreme Poet, a few weeks shy of his 99th birthday, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday June 17. He was the devoted and beloved husband of the late Bessie (Karahalios) Trambukis for 62 years, who passed away just a few months ago. He attended and graduated from Roger Williams Junior College where he studied engineering and drafting. He served in the Navy during WW II. He was an author and poet who wrote and published two books which are now in the Library Book of Congress. On different occasions he was asked to write poems for our clergy as they celebrated certain milestones in their lives. He took it upon himself to write poems about people who did good deeds for our church. George was a history buff and could retell stories like they just happened yesterday. His mind and intelligence was something to be admired. He was proud of his Greek heritage and culture. He loved everything about being Greek and always wanted to support his fellow Greeks. He was a member of the Ahepa Society and the Greek Orthodox Senior Citizen Group. George was co-owner of Road-Light which was a family owned business he ran with his son-in-law Tom. He had great work ethics and put 100% into everything he did. Besides his wife being the love of his life, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy. He loved and lived for his family and always showed great generosity towards them. George was the devoted and loving father of Kathy Coyne and her husband Tom of Rehoboth, MA, Marion Panichas and her husband Steve of Barrington, R.I., and Joanne Laferriere and her husband Dan of Walpole, MA.
