George Michailides

George Michailides, 85 of North Kingstown passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 26, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Arthemios “Harry” and Mary (Aldier) Michailides.  Prior to her passing in 2001, he was the loving and devoted husband of the late Margaret R. (DeBartolo) Michailides .

After High School George went on to proudly serve his country during the Korean war in the United States Marine Corps. He the epitome of a proud veteran and Marine. He was a dedicated employee for over 37 years as a general foreman for Providence Gas Company. He was a freemason and a member of the Harmony Lodge No. 9 F & A.M.

George was a well-respected, independent and wise gentleman that had a deep love for his family. They always came first. His vast knowledge allowed him the ability to not shy away from any task. If he put his mind to the task, it would be completed. He was often the first to offer you friendly bits of advice, that many looked forward to receiving. In his free time if he wasn’t planning his next stay in Aruba with his late wife, he could often be found working on his computer, making sure everything was in order.

He is survived by his loving children Karla McGovern, Christopher Michailides and his wife Pamela, Stephen Michailides, Jonathan Michailides and his wife Tammy, and James Michailides and his wife Lori. He was the beloved grand father of Michael McGovern, Matthew McGovern, Eleanor Michailides, Grace Michailides, Samantha Michailides, Dylan Michailides, Delia Michailides, Lexa Michailides, Alexander Michailides, Kloe Michailides, Sara Michailides, and Sean Michailides. He was predeceased by his son-in-law Morton McGovern.

His funeral will leave at 9:00 am on Monday October 31, 2022, from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston. A Mass will be held at 10:00 in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Ave., Cranston. Burial with full military honors will be immediately following in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISTING HOURS will be Sunday from 3:00-6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to HopeHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, 1085 N. Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or to Rhode Island Veteran’s Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI 02809.
