George Thomas David

DAVID, GEORGE THOMAS of Cranston passed away Monday morning.

He leaves behind his wife, Michelle (Cotoia) David and his daughter Jessica, both of Cranston, his brother Michael David and his wife Linda of West Warwick, his sister Melanie (David) Hill and her husband William of Florida, niece Tifany (David) Dunn, her husband Michael and their daughter Mikaila of Coventry, his sister-in-law Angela Haggerty and her sons Dennis and Andrew of Kingston, surrogate daughter, Helen Wang of China, and countless family and friends.

George was a proud US Army veteran. He was a longtime employee of Johnson Brothers Distributors of RI. He left in 2007 to become the Superintendent of Public Buildings in Cranston.

A dedicated husband, father, and public servant, George spent his time bettering the lives of people in his community. He was the chairman of the Cranston Education Foundation, which raised tens of thousands of dollars for Cranston Public Schools. He enjoyed helping to coach his daughter Jessica’s teams for CLCF. He was an active member of the Democratic Party.

Upon retiring, he worked part time for the Special Olympics of RI.

Services are at NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave. Cranston, on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Apostles Church, 800 Pippin Orchard in Cranston at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
