GENE C. PIERANUNZI

78, of Set-N-Sun Drive, Hope, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Kent County Memorial Hospital in Warwick. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Finnegan) Pieranunzi. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Oresto and Yolanda (Falchini) Pieranunzi. Mr. Pieranunzi was the owner and operator of Perry Brothers, Inc. for 50 years before retiring and was the founder and former owner of Cra-Mar Nursing Home in Cranston. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, later serving with the 443rd Civil Affairs Company (USAR) and the 1043rd Maintenance Company (RIANG) where retired as SFC. and was a life member of Tri-City Lodge Elks #14 in Warwick. Gene enjoyed traveling the country he loved in his motor home with his cat Tigger by his side, wintering in Florida, working in his yard and helping his family and friends. Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of Mark S. Pieranunzi and his wife Sandra of Coventry and Craig G. Pieranunzi, Det. CPD. (Major USAR Ret.) and his wife Donna of Hope; loving grandfather of Deva, Deonna, Carl, Dean, Alayna and Shane; and dear brother of Diane Piccoli of Jamestown, Evelyn Tomasso of North Providence, Claire Nadeau of Johnston, Ernest Pieranunzi of Del Ray Beach, FL and Richard Pieranunzi of Scottsdale, AZ. His funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in SS Peter & Paul Church, 48 Highland St., West Warwick at 10:00 a.m Interment with Military Honors will be at RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
