84, of Cavalcade Blvd. Johnston, passed away Sunday October 24, 2010 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, with his loving wife by his side. He was the devoted husband of Barbara A. (Zulla) Santagata.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Fred A. and Hilda (Verdi) Santagata.
Fred was a WW- II Navy veteran serving as a Chief Petty Officer, retiring after twenty years of service.
He worked as an accountant and was a dedicated employee for ITT Grinell, Forte Brothers Construction, Pezza Construction and Silver Lake Community Center, before retiring in 2008.
Fred was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bartholomew's Church, Past Grand Counselor of UCT N.E. and Past Counselor of UCT Providence Council # 67, a member of St. Bartholomew's Men's Society and the Disabled American Veterans.
Besides his wife he was the loving brother of Mildred Roth, Elia Tria and the late Edward Santagata and dear uncle of Barry DeCosta, David DeCosta, Lori Viglone and many other nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave. Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Grace Church Johnston at 10:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Wednesday 4-8 p.m.
