Frank Caramadre

Frank Caramadre, 95, of Cranston passed away peacefully on May 29, 2022.  For 56 years Frank was the loving husband of the late Yolanda T. (Prata) Caramadre.  He was the son of the late Angelo Francesc’Antonio and Rose (DelMastro) Caramadre.

Beloved father of Vincent, Anne, John and Paula of Cranston, Joseph of West Warwick and Anthony of Warwick; adored grandfather of Gina, Amelia, Maria and Daniel of Cranston, Michael of West Palm Beach, FL and Nicholas (Roehlyn) and Michelle of Grover Beach, CA.  He was the brother of Mary Caramadre Boyer of Rockville, RI, Virginia Caramadre Lalime of Milford, MA and the late Angelo and Vincent Caramadre.

Admired and loved by many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends and daughters-in-law, Paula and Janet Caramadre.

Frank was a devout Roman Catholic and a dedicated member of St. Mary Parish, Cranston.  A warm, distinguished man of few words that spoke volumes to all he met, he always left one with a lasting impression.

Frank arrived in America with his family on Dec. 24, 1939 settling in the Silver Lake area of Providence. At age 13 Frank took it upon himself to learn and master the English language.  His efforts well spent; in middle school he was awarded the Senator Anthony medal which recognizes excellence in reading and oration. During high school, Frank was drafted into the U.S Army 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One) and served as a Sentry at the Nuremburg War Trials in Germany.   Upon his return, he completed and received his high school diploma from Mount Pleasant High School and went on to Bryant College (currently Bryant University), completing his Bachelor of Business Administration in 1949.

Frank worked in the Banking Division of the RI Dept. of Business Regulation (DBR) retiring in1989 in the role of Chief Credit Union Examiner. His 30 years with the DBR includes a gubernatorial appointment as the RI Banking Commissioner, 1971-1974.

He had great love for nurturing his gardens and maintaining his fig trees and grapevines. He enjoyed reading about different places and, above all, reciting Italian poetry.
