Filomena A. (DiPalma) DeGregorio, 87, of Alto St., Cranston, passed away suddenly, Thursday, February 5, 2009 at Kent County Memorial Hospital in Warwick. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Angela (Cianciarulo) DiPalma. She was married to Alfred DeGregorio for 57 years before his passing in 1998, and lived in Cranston where they brought up a family of four children. She was the devoted mother of Diane C. Mercurio and her husband Thomas of Warwick, Edward A. DeGregorio and his wife Jill of Charlestown, Alfred "Fred" DeGregorio and his wife Joyce of Smithfield, and the late Robert A. DeGregorio. She was the loving grandmother of 10 and the late Sheryl Spiros-Mercurio; loving great-grandmother of 10; and dear sister of Rose Ricci, Angelo DiPalma and Richard DiPalma, all of Johnston, and the late Benjamin and Anthony DiPalma.
Filomina worked in the jewelry industry for many years before retiring. She was a member of Manton and Hope Senior Center groups where she was an avid bowler, bocce player and card player, and was President of Legion of Mary, a group of women who each week prayed with sick and recuperating patients at area nursing homes. She was a communicant of St. Bartholomew's Parish for the past 67 years. She will be remembered and loved for her love of life, boundless energy, and her gentle and caring nature.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Bartholomew's Church, Laurel Hill Ave., Providence at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS Sunday 4-8 p.m.
