Filippo "Philip" Carmen Calabro, 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 3, 2012, at Avow Hospice in Naples, FL.

Formerly of East Greenwich, RI, Philip was the son of the late Antonio and Rose (Caccamo) Calabro, one of 8 children. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Joan Feeley Calabro, his 6 children, Valerie Inzinna of FL, Linda Riha and Christopher Calabro of NH, Doreen Verrier, Philip Calabro, Jr. and Lisa Calabro of RI, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, his brothers and sister Vincent Calabro of SC, Anthony Calabro and Nicolina Scotti of RI. He was also the brother of the late Joseph, Thomas, and Carmelo Calabro.

Philip served in the Army during the Korean War. After completing his studies at the Italian Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, he became an accomplished sculptor, artist and jewelry designer. He was an entrepreneur having run several successful businesses. He enjoyed teaching his art throughout his life. The last 14 years he taught sculpting at the Von Liebig Art Center in Naples, Fl.

The family would like to thank the staff of Avow Hospice for their care, sensitivity, and professional assistance.

His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2012, in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston. Interment will be private. A gathering of family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), the American Lung Association (www.lung.com) and Avow Hospice (www.avowhospice.com).
