FERNAND L. SLAIMEN

89, of Johnston, passed away on Friday July 16, 2010 at RI Hospital, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Emma (Almonte) Slaimen. Fernand was born in Providence, the son of the late Slaimen and Elise (Laborie) Slaimen. Mr. Slaimen was in the Plumbing and Heating Industry for many years, and was also a WW II Coast Guard veteran. He was a D-Day survivor, and his love was playing basketball for the Fox Point Boys Club and Central High School. Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving sons, Glenn Slaimen and his wife Catia of Hope and Alan Slaimen and his wife Cathy of Johnston. He was also the cherished grandfather of Glenn II , David , and was the brother of Eleanor Slaimen of Johnston, Alice Rosati of Providence, Leone DiCostanzo of Johnston, and the late Yvon Salimen, Eva Carrera,Nicky DiPippo,Barbara Ashcroft, Yvette Slaimen and Yvonne Asacker. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10 am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME 1278 Park Ave., Cranston followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Rd. Johnston. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. VISITING HOURS: Monday 4-8 pm.
