FERDINANDO "FREDDY" MESSA

Ferdinando " Freddy " Messa, 86, of Kersey Rd., Peacedale passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at home. He was the husband of the late Racquelina "Rachel "(Luciano) Messa. He was born in Roccomonfina, Italy a son of the late Antonio and Antonia (DiBiasio) Messa and he had resided in Peacedale since 1952. Mr. Messa was the Dock Manager employed at Pt. Judith Fisherman's Co-Op from 1952 until his retirement in 1987. He was a veteran of the Italian Army. Mr. Messa was an avid vegetable gardener, bowler, mushroomer and motor scooter enthusiast. He was a member of the F.O.P. He is survived by his son, Anthony F. Messa and his wife Terri of Brooklyn, CT, his granddaughter, Diane Gerber and her husband Joe and their children, Zachary and Calista Gerber all of Wyckoff, NJ. He was predeceased by several siblings in Italy and is survived by several nieces and nephews in Italy. He is also survived by his dear friends, Bob Dworcek, Judy Papa and Doris Pollock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, High St., Wakefield and may call at the Nardolillo Funeral Home SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL 1111 Boston Neck Rd. ( Rt 1A ), Narragansett on Tuesday 4-7pm. Burial will take place in St. Francis Cemetery, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Francis Church Greenan Hall Restoration Fund, 114 High St., Wakefield, RI 02879. .
