Evangeline "Van" (Stappas) Pappas 84, formerly of Cranston, passed away peacefully with her children at her side, on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. She was the wife of the late George A. Pappas. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Apostolos and Euginia (Kanelakos) Stappas. "Van" was best remembered as part of her family owned business, the former Kay's Donut Shop in Providence. She was a past member of the Ladies Philoptohos. She was the devoted mother of Anne H. Constantine and her husband Basil of Boxford, MA and Arthur G. Pappas and his wife Ginger of Cranston. Mrs. Pappas was the loving grandmother of Athan Constantine, Leah Toppin, Joy Zaremba, Liza Pappas and Dawn Pappas. She was the cherished great-grandmother of Aria and Cole Constantine. Mrs. Pappas was the beloved aunt of several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George Stappas, John Stappas, Tina Pakuris, Kay Pappas and Tessie Hosey. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral services on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Sunday 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence.
