Of Providence, was called to heaven on Wednesday, February 13, 2013, by her husband of sixty-four years, Paul L. Yacovone, Sr., Captain PPD Retired, who pre-deceased her eight days ago, and passing eleven days before her 88th birthday, with her loving family by her side. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Angelina (Cimaglia) Santagata. Esther was employed by the former New England Telephone Company before her retirement. She devoted her life to her family. Esther was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, Ladies Guild and Church Choir, and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her loving children, Jane M. Yacovone of Foster, Paul L. Yacovone, Jr. of Cranston, Anne M. Carchia and her husband Richard of Narragansett, and Mark E. Yacovone and Bethany Cooper of Oxford, MS. Esther was the cherished grandmother of Elise A. Yacovone of Foster, and Paul L. Yacovone, III of Cranston. She was the sister of the late Frank Santagata, Clara Santagata, and Jennie Spunzo. Esther is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Interment will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 146 Clifford Street, Providence, RI 02903.
