Ernest R. Capobianco, Sr. 91, of Cranston passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 15, 2023. Born in Johnston he was the son of the late Ernesto and Julia (Maddalena) Capobianco. He was the husband of the late Florence (Rajotte) Capobianco.
Ernie and his brother Angelo were the owners and operators for over 70 years of the Pocassett Supermarket, they both shared the daily responsibilities. His family business was instrumental in helping the surrounding neighborhood get through the great depression. Making sure that families were fed, no matter what. He was an avid lover of music he was a member of the Rhythm Boys Bands, that played on local radio stations. He was enlisted in the Army, alongside his identical twin brother. However, his services were cut short due to the Fullivan Act. He was a volunteer for the local Johnston EMS, for several years. He was known for his love of casino’s Bally’s or Foxwood’s were on the top of the list, and there was never a bad day for a good cigar.
He is survived by his beloved children Ernest “Rocco” Capobianco, Jr. and his partner Athena, Gayle Lentrichia and her husband Paul Lentrichia, M.D., Mark Capobianco and his partner Lori, and Lisa Fowler and her partner John Carnevale. He was the loving grandfather of eight Alexandra, Stephen, Ethan, Mark Jr., Olivia, Ilaria, Melina, and Adriana. He was the identical twin brother of Angelo Capobianco, and brother of Louisa boyfriend Iannotti, and he was predeceased by two sisters Mary Zoglio, and Christina Manfredi.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday February 18, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. VISITING HOURS will be held from 8:00 -10:00 am at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave. Cranston.
