91, of Cranston, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 22, 2011 at Kent County Hospital, Warwick. He was the beloved husband of sixty-seven years to Rose A. (Imondi) Bilodeau. Born in Thetford Mines, Quebec, Canada, he was a son of the late Ernest and Eva (Landry) Bilodeau. Mr. Bilodeau was a grinder for General Dynamics Electric Boat for ten years. He was employed as a mechanic at Grinnell Corporation for twenty years before his retirement. Ernest was a WW II veteran serving in the US Navy, where he survived the sinking of two of the ships on which he served. Ernest was a lifetime member of the USS DeHaven Sailors Association #469 and referred to himself proudly as being a "tin can sailor". He enjoyed landscaping, golf, skiing, bowling, water skiing, and spending time with family and friends. Ernest is also survived by loving family members and friends. He was a man who was loved by all.
Besides his wife he is survived by his loving daughter Marlene Ann Clarke and her husband Thomas of Vernon, CT. He was the brother of Theresa Garceau of Cranston and the late Roland, Paul, and Robert Bilodeau, Viola Heroux, Claire LeBlanc, and Beatrice Madden.
Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday at 10:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Mark, Garden City, Cranston.
