56, of Exeter, RI, passed away on Friday, October 7th. Born in Brunswick, Maine on July 28th 1966, Eric was the son of the late Bruce M Weybrant and Toinette B Weybrant (Lakin).
Eric graduated from Morse High School in Bath, Maine, and a bit later began his collegiate career at the University of Maine, Orono where he graduated summa cum laude with a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Shortly after graduation, he moved down to Rhode Island where he began his career at Dussault Systemes (formerly known as Abaqus) where he was a valued employee for 20+ years and developed lifelong friendships.
Eric enjoyed life to the fullest extent. He had a very uncanny way of making everyone around him feel welcomed. Eric was truly loved by all those that knew him, even for just a short while. He had many passions in his life, but there were three that stood above the rest. Fishing was a big passion that he was able to really pursue while living in the Ocean State. You could often find him waking up at 4am to tow his boat and head out to Block Island or even further.
His second was his love and knowledge of four wheeling. Eric devoted much of his time to the sport. Whether it was educating newer wheelers who were just dipping their toes, to spotting hard core buggies and telling everyone it's fine even if we all knew it wasn’t. Even if it looked ridiculous, he’d manage to get anyone over that line with a little bit of new body work and a lot more confidence. Eric was very involved in all things wheeling in New England including serving as the President of both the Northeast Association of 4WD Clubs (NEA) and Ocean State Jeepsters (OSJ). His knowledge base and charisma made him the man that everyone could go up to. He had a way about him that made anyone around him feel welcomed. Along with NEA and OSJ, Eric was an avid member of the Rhode Island Trail Slayers, a group of guys that believe in hard core wheeling and a love for Slayer.
Eric’s third and most important passion was his daughter, Rowan. At a very young age he started teaching her both the ways of fishing and the art of all things wheeling. As she got older, love for the sports grew in her just as strong as they were for him, and so he was able to enjoy his two passions with his pride and joy.
Eric is survived by his best friend and daughter Rowan Alexander, his mother Toinette Weybrant, Sister Jill Weybrant and her husband Mark Grandonico, niece Sara Frazier, mother to his daughter Michelle Alexander, his oldest and dearest friend/brother Ken Lewis, his two best friends Eugene Whitford and Bryan Goes, good friends from past and present, Ocean State Jeepsters, and the entire Northeast wheeling community.
Eric’s Service will be held on Monday, October 17th, 2022 at the Back 40 Restaurant in North Kingstown, RI from 4 to close for all friends and family.
Eric's Burial service will be held on Saturday, November 5th, 2022 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Bath Maine at 12pm followed by a reception for all friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eric’s memory to the Ocean State Jeepsters land fund or the NEA4WD land fund. If you are unable to give monetarily, please donate your time and manpower to the betterment of the sport.
