82, of Cranston, RI passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at the Scandinavian Home in Cranston.
He was the beloved husband of Alice T. Brown. Born in Texas, he was the son of the late John C. Brown and Margaret (Miller) Brown.
Ellie graduated from Roger Williams University as an electrical engineer and worked for Frank Zaino & Assoc. and Lifespan Rhode Island Hospital until his retirement in 2011.
He was a lifetime member of the West Warwick Elks #1697 but was most remembered for his involvement in the former Providence/Cranston Elks #14. Whether it was the kiddie outings, coaching youth football or cooking for three hundred people at functions he always enjoyed his involvement with the Elks.
Ellie loved his wife most, caring for her with such love, compassion and determination as she fought Alzheimer’s disease. For the last five years, he refused to leave her side until her passing in June 2019.
His family was his pride and joy. He was the loving father of Joseph Brown and his wife Mary Beth, Charles Brown and his late wife Maria-Lisa, Steven Brown and his wife Barbara, Cheryl Jollie and her husband Joseph, and John Brown and his wife Heidi. Ellie was the cherished grandfather of Daniel, Gregory, Michael, Sean, Marisa, and Caitlyn Ellie and great grandfather of Molly, Evan, Callie, Danny, Maya, Sophia, and Colton. He especially loved when his granddaughter Caitlyn Ellie would come and visit to complete puzzles, taking him for a bite to eat and simply spend time watching his favorite Western movies. They enjoyed passing time together. Ellie was the dear brother of James, George and David Brown, and the late Richard, Juanita, Lyle and William Brown and Ann Manders.
A special thank you to all the staff members at the Scandinavian Home for taking such exceptional care of our parents this past year.
His funeral service will be held in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow the visiting hours on Saturday in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
