formerly of Seekonk MA, made her transition into heaven on May 1, 2020 at Crestwood Nursing Home from complications with Alzheimers.
Elizabeth’s transition was preceded by her husband, Vartkes, and her sister Nancy (Noroian) DiLuca of Whitinsville, and brother Dr. Oscar Noroian of Shrewsbury.
On August 12, 1928 in Whitinsville, MA, Elizabeth was born the daughter of Sahag and Nevart Rose (Kessimian) Noroian. She lived in that little town until she met the love of her life, Vartkes, moving to Providence RI for some years, before settling in what would become their forever home together in Seekonk. They were known throughout Providence from the family business, Tony’s Market, where their customers were also treated like family. Elizabeth, better known as “Bette” or even Mom to a lucky few, was known for her smile and can-do attitude, regardless of the challenge set in front of her. She did not stand tall in stature, but her presence and energy were all she needed in life. She was a woman that could make something extraordinary out of nothing, she was a master of all trades. Her artistic, creative mind and spirit had no limitations and her cooking and baking will remain unparalleled. She had her own cookbook, although it will never be published, because most of it was in her head or processed through the touch of her hands. Bette was a fantastic tennis player, although she didn’t look the part, but that only fueled her passion to play harder. She was not one to give up easily in sport or life.
But what came most naturally to her was how nurturing and loving she was. She shared a love-story kind of love with Vartkes and was a loyal, devoted and happy housewife to him, and was an incredibly loving, empowering, devoted mother to David and Christine. No surprise, she inherited her father’s innate connection to nature, wildlife and a love for gardening.
She is survived by her loving daughter Christine Harootunian of Florida, and her son David Harootunian and his wife Debra of Warwick, RI. She was blessed with a great-granddaughter, Elsyee-Jean Marie. She leaves behind many loving cousins, nephews and nieces.
She will be missed dearly and held close in our hearts always, but it brings us joy that she has found peace and is reunited with the eternal love of her life, Vartkes, and all of her family that are waiting for her. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff at Atria Bay Spring Village, Barrington and Crestwood Nursing Home in Warren for all their loving care of our Mom. xo
Services will be private at Swan Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Elizabeth’s memory may be made to: (New England) The Home For Little Wanderers, Boston MA (www.thehome.org) where David and Christine were adopted; or to Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway Providence RI 02909 (www.stsvartanantzchurch.org)
