Elena A. (DelGuidice) Macari 84, formerly of Narragansett, died Saturday, April 4, 2009 at the St. Elizabeth Home, East Greenwich. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Macari, Jr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Diamondina (Simeone) DelGuidice. Mrs. Macari was a stockroom clerk for the former Kearflex Manufacturing Company of Cranston for fifteen years and was also employed by the Cranston School Department at the Cranston West High School Cafeteria before retiring in 1987. She was a former member of the Narragansett Italian American Club and was an avid gardener. She is survived by her children, Diane M. Newhouse and her husband Britt of Bonita Springs, FL and Summit, NJ and Joseph A. Macari, III and his partner Nancy of Cranston. Elena was the grandmother of Andrew J. and Allison E. Newhouse. She was the sister of Lucy Russo of Johnston, Claire DelGuidice of North Providence, Gloria Sousa of Lake Lucerne, FL and the late Angelo and Fernando DelGuidice, Marion Volatile, Evelyn Renzi, Josephine Colapietro and Angela Cardarelli. She is also survived by her beloved dog "Charlie". Funeral from the Nardolillo Funeral Home, SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt.1A), Narragansett on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church, 864 Point Judith Road, Narragansett.
