ELENA M. (ANTONELLI) SAN ANTONIO

Elena M. (Antonelli) San Antonio 96, of Webster Avenue, Providence, where she resided all her life, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at South County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, North Kingstown. She was the wife of the late William G. San Antonio, Sr. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Eraclio and Mariannina (Scialo) Antonelli. In 1942, Elena opened an upscale women's clothing store, "Eleanor's" in the Silver Lake section of Providence for many years. She was a self taught seamstress and couturiere. She was an exceptional cook and baker feeding many she encountered. Elena was a committed, devoted and spiritual person. She was a communicant of St. Bartholomew's Church. She is survived by her children William G. San Antonio, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Saunderstown and M. Corinne San Antonio of Naples, FL. and her daughter-in-law Eleanor San Antonio of Cranston. Elena was the mother of the late RING-CSM Douglas J. San Antonio and the mother-in-law of the late Joseph Duffy. She was the loving grandmother of William III, Scott, Douglas, Sabrina and Alessandro San Antonio, Jenna DiFanti, Giovanni Scotti all of Rhode Island and Corin Portaleone of Naples, FL and the adored great-grandmother of Elana, Siobhan, Nikolas, Jacob, Gabriel, William IV, Dante and Angelina. Mrs. San Antonio was the sister of Domenic Antonelli of Providence and the late Albert and Americo Antonelli, Josephine Mori, Lisetta DelSanto, Carmella Volpe and Pasquelina Zanghi. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bartholomew's Church, 297 Laurel Hill Avenue, Providence.
