Edward E. DiStefano, Sr. 82, of Glenwood Avenue, Cranston, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Kent County Hospital, Warwick. He was the husband of Evelyn L. (Rotella) DiStefano, to whom he was married for fifty-six years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Frank and Jennie (Baccari) DiStefano. Mr. DiStefano was a Labor Foreman for the E. Turgeon Construction Company and various other construction companies for thirty-two years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of Union Local # 271 and a member and Past Commander of the American Legion #1 both of Providence. Mr. DiStefano was a WW II veteran serving in the US Army with the 11th Airborne Division. Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Edward E. DiStefano, Jr. and his companion Zoe of Dahlonega, GA, Diane M. McCarthy and her husband Craig of Ashaway and Steven M. DiStefano and his wife Lisa of Cranston. He was the grandfather of Trevor M and Kayla R. McCarthy. Mr. DiStefano was the brother of Thomas DiStefano of FL, Lucy Remus of Los Angeles, CA, Mary Hanson of Lincoln, Norma Sarmiento of Warwick and the late John, Anthony, Richard and Frank DiStefano, Anna Spaziano, Evelyn Reynolds and Elaine Plumb. Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of St. Mark, Garden City, Cranston.
