Edith (Der Toumaian) Vartanian

formerly of Crossway Rd., Cranston, RI, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Kent Regency in Warwick, RI.  She was the beloved wife of the late John Vartanian.  Born in Cranston, she was the daughter of the late Hagop and Araxie (Kenosian) DerToumaian.

Edith was co-owner of the former Mike’s Lunch on Richmond St., Providence, RI for 50 years retiring in 1978. An active member at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, Edith was a fabulous cook and cooked many years for the church bazaar. Family and friends enjoyed her many delicacies. She was a lifelong bowler, and enjoyed her Armenian bowling league, never missing a Wednesday night!

Edith was the devoted mother of Margo D. Takian (the late Chet) of East Greenwich, RI, Janet C. Wing (Thomas) of Bartlett, NH and Jack R. Vartanian (Cheryl) of Punta Gorda, FL; cherished grandmother of David Erickson, Christopher Erickson, Alex Takian, Randy Takian, Jaime Vartanian and Jesse Vartanian; loving “GG’ of twelve great-grandchildren; and dear sister of the late Ruth Davidian, Hasmig Sookian, Zabel Manasian and Ashod Toumaian.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Monday, June 28th at 11 a.m. in Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence. Burial at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston, RI will be private and visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
