EARLE F. GUILFORD, JR

66, passed away on Wednesday, January 23 with family by his side after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

A graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton, MA, Earle completed college at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth following his service in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He spent three decades as a systems engineer at General Dynamics Electric Boat, working on design, development and at-sea testing for the Trident and Virginia Class submarine programs. In addition to being a champion golfer in his company's Athletic Club, Earle was also an avid fisherman and kayaker, and an active member of the RI Saltwater Anglers Association.

Extraordinarily devoted to and beloved by his family and friends, Earle is survived by his wife of 39 years Lois (LaFazia) Guilford, his son Matthew, and his mother Madeline (Lepine) Guilford. He also leaves a brother John and wife Joan, a sister Nancy, a sister Kathleen Mederios and husband Wayne, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Earle F. Guilford Sr.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Monday at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick. Interment, with military honors, will take place at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. VISITING HOURS are Sunday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colin Myers Memorial Fund, c/o The RI Foundation, One Union Station, Providence, RI 02903.
